Moscow: Apna Punjab Media: Renowned sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik won the Golden Sand Master Award at the International Championship held in Russia on Friday. The International Sand Sculpture Championship was held from 4 to 12 July at the iconic Peter and Paul Fortress in St. Petersburg. 21 eminent sculptors of the world participated in this event. Sudarshan has expressed happiness on receiving this award. I am really happy to win the Gold Medal as well as the Golden Sand Master Award at the International Sand Sculpture Championship/Festival here. It is a matter of great pride that my sand art has received appreciation across the country. Patnaik along with his devotee Balram Das created a 12 feet tall statue of Lord Jagannath riding on a chariot. Balaram Das was a famous Oriya poet of the 14th century. Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Moscow has congratulated Padma Shri awardee Patnaik, who has participated in more than 65 international sand art competitions across the world, for the achievement. They are trying to give a social message by making sand sculptures.
