National Conference will contest on 51 seats and Congress on 32 seats, there will be face to face on 5 seats.

Srinagar: Apna Punjab Media: After long talks between National Conference and Congress, an agreement has been reached regarding seat distribution for Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. According to the seat sharing formula, National Conference will contest on 51 seats while Congress will contest on 32 seats. Apart from this, Marxist Communist Party (CPI-M) and Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party, which are part of the alliance of both the parties, have been given one seat each. This announcement was made in a joint press conference held after day-long talks at the house of National Conference President Farooq Abdullah. Leaders of both the parties said that according to the seat sharing formula, National Conference will contest on 51 seats while Congress will contest on 32 seats. He also said that there will be a friendly contest between the two on five seats.
On the other hand, Congress Jammu and Kashmir unit president Tariq Hamid Kara said that the contest will be conducted in an honest and disciplined manner, adding that in the near future it will be announced which party will contest on which seat and the list of candidates. The number will be released. It is noteworthy that assembly elections are to be held in three phases in Jammu and Kashmir. The last date for nomination for 24 seats in the state is August 27, for which voting is to be held on September 18.
Along with this, the last date of nomination for the second round of voting on 26 seats on September 25 is September 5. Under the third phase, the last date of nomination for 40 assembly seats of the state is October 1 and September 12. According to the Election Commission, there are 87.09 lakh voters in 90 constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir, of which 42.6 lakh are women. The number of young voters voting for the first time here is 3.71 lakh. Whereas there are a total of 20.7 lakh youth voters, whose age is between 20 to 29 years.
