WASHINGTON (AP) – Two Democratic senators introduced a bill Wednesday aimed at reuniting immigrant families and raising the per-country family-based immigration limit. If the bill is passed, countries like India and China will get more visas. Introduced by Senators Mazie K. Hirono and Tammy Duckworth, members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, the bill would integrate families into the nation’s immigration system and reduce the backlog of family-based immigration cases. Duckworth said the legislation would implement practical reforms by eliminating family-based dues and helping to clear the backlog of green card applications.
