The four-day Chhath Puja started from 6 November. Community members in Virginia celebrated the festival of Chhath Puja with full rituals. Devotees observe fast and worship the Sun God on the banks of rivers and ponds. Members of the Indian community gathered to perform the ritual on the banks of a river in Virginia after taking permission from local authorities. “We approached the county and park authorities for Chhath Puja and they gave us permission,” said one person. Every year Chhath Puja is performed here on the river and around 700 people gather on the banks of the lake to celebrate this festival.
