Washington: Apna Punjab Media: Rajan Zaid, who lives in Rennes, Nevada, has been sent an invitation letter to deliver the inaugural prayer in the US Senate from July 30. Rajan is the president of Hindu Dharma University and has so far read Hindu inaugural prayers 310 times in the legislatures of 44 US states and Canada. Additionally, he has delivered Hindu prayers in several American assemblies, including the Assembly, County Commission, City Council. It is noteworthy that on July 12, 2007, Washington D.C. Rajan Zaid was invited for the opening prayer in the US Senate. But at that time he was opposed, due to which there was disruption and now he has been invited again for the inaugural prayer.
Rajan Zaid plans to start the opening prayer of the Senate with Om and end it with Om only. He said that verses from the world’s oldest prevalent religious scriptures will be included in this prayer. Rajan Zaid will explain the original Sanskrit verses of Rigveda in English. They will wear traditional saffron colored kurta-pajama and Rudraksha beads. Rajan Zaid has also been honored with the World Interfaith Leader Award.
