Winnipeg: Apna Punjab Media: The annual Nagar Kirtan dedicated to the 420th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Granth Sahib was organized by the Gurdwara Sikh Society of Manitoba in the park of Vidhan Bhawan. The Sangats who came to participate in this painted the city of Winnipeg in Khalsai colours.
The city kirtan started under the leadership of Panj Pyaras. On this occasion, Sri Guru Granth Sahib was decorated in a beautifully decorated palanquin and the devotees were chanting Wahiguru-Wahiguru at the back. Ragi Singh enthralled the gathering with Shabad Kirtan. The team of Sikh Motor Cycle Club also specially participated in Nagar Kirtan. Singhas and Singhanis from various Gatka Akharas in Manitoba created a Khalsai atmosphere by enacting old war scenes. The city kirtan started under the leadership of Panj Pyaras. Leaders of various political parties of Manitoba also participated in the city kirtan. Manitoba Chief Minister Webb Kinew made a special appearance. He assured the Sikh community that he will always stand with them for their rights. Liberal Party MP Kevin Lammers said that Canada’s greatest strength is its diversity and that Canada is strong because of its differences, not despite them. President of Sikh Society of Manitoba Gurdwara, Gurmeet Singh Panchhi said that there was immense faith and enthusiasm among the Sangat regarding the Nagar Kirtan.
