The US Vice President also reiterated his call for an assault-weapons ban and support for stricter US gun safety laws. “This is just one senseless tragedy among many senseless tragedies,” Harris said of the Apalachee High School shooting in Winder, Georgia. It is the latest incident of gun violence in a country that has seen hundreds of mass shootings before. Harris said, “We have to end this epidemic of gun violence in our country once and for all. It doesn’t have to be this way.”
