Uttarakhand: Apna Punjab Media: Chinook and Mi-17 helicopters of the Indian Air Force were also involved in the relief and rescue operations conducted to rescue over 500 pilgrims stranded on the track route of Kedarnath due to landslides caused by heavy rains. Officials said an MI-17 helicopter airlifted 10 pilgrims to Gauchar airstrip on Friday morning. The district administration has issued two helpline numbers 7579257572 01364-233387 and an emergency number 112 for information about pilgrims stranded on the track route. Pilgrims got stranded on Wednesday night on the Gaurikund-Kedarnath track route as 20-25 meter portion of the road before Bhimbali was washed away due to rise in water level in Mandakini river. Officials said that the pilgrims stranded on the track route are safe and 5000 food packets have been distributed to them. Kedarnath Yatra has been stopped for the time being following the advisory issued by the district administration. Pilgrims have been requested to remain safe wherever they are and wait until the route is cleared.
