US President Donald Trump nominates Harmeet Dhillon as Assistant Attorney General
The people of the Indian community living abroad have achieved great heights due to their tireless hard work. Harmeet Dhillon, an Indian-American born in Chandigarh, Punjab, has achieved a similar distinction.
US President Donald Trump has nominated Harmeet Dhillon as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights in the Department of Justice. Trump made the announcement in a post on the social media platform. “I am pleased to nominate Harmeet K. Dhillon to serve as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the United States Department of Justice. “Throughout her career, Harmeet has consistently stood up for protecting our civil liberties, including using big tech to censor our free expression, preventing Christians from praying together during COVID, and suing those corporations. Harmeet is one of the nation’s top election lawyers fighting to ensure that all and only valid votes are counted, Trump said. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Virginia Law School and clerks on the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Notably, Dylan had also faced racial slurs after praying at the Republican National Convention in July this year. Last year, she ran unsuccessfully for the Republican National Committee. Born in Chandigarh, 54-year-old Dhillon moved to the US with her parents as a child. In 2016, she was the first Indian-American to take the stage at the conference in Cleveland.
