According to the information, a large number of visa applicants from Punjab, Gujarat and Haryana who want to pursue higher education in Canada and Australia are facing rejection. The reason for this is that these countries have tightened the rules. In this, especially the students of some states of India are facing strict scrutiny. The report quoted experts as saying that countries which feel that Indians wishing to migrate are playing with the system and taking the easy route of student visa, are tightening the rules. Canada is the biggest example of this. After legal entry into Canada, a person can apply for asylum claiming that he or she does not have a passport. Canadian law prevents asylum seekers from returning without proper documentation until their refugee application is considered. Canada and Australia are seen as attractive destinations because they have easier citizenship and immigration standards than the UK and US.
