This important decision has been taken to increase the validity of the Green Card. Earlier, if the Green Card expired, it was extended only for 2 years. Meanwhile, America has now announced that it will be extended by one more year to a total of 3 years. This has also increased the time for many people to renew their green cards. Joe Biden’s government has given this big relief to people who got green cards from abroad during the US presidential elections, regarding going to America and establishing permanent residence there. It has also been decided to extend the deadline for renewal of Green Card after its validity period expires. This has given a golden opportunity to many people waiting for green card renewal. Earlier, even after the validity of the Green Card was over, its validity was extended for 2 years. With the latest increase, the total increase has been made for 3 years. This has been disclosed by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services Agency – USC. Normally, US green card holders living in India had to renew it every 10 years. But the I-90 form must be submitted at least 6 months before this 10-year period ends. And those who apply for green card renewal will be given an acknowledgment notice to extend its validity by 24 months. Along with this, even if their green card expires, they can still live in America legally by showing this notice. Until a new green card is issued, this notice can also be used as proof of legal status in lieu of a green card during employment and travel.
