Canada: Apna Punjab Media: There is news of a hate attack on 3 Sikhs in Canada, whose turbans were snatched away by the attacker and after beating them, he also tried to crush them under the car. The first case came to light in Scarbrough area of Toronto where Rupinder Singh was targeted when he was returning home from Gurudwara Sahib. Another case came to light in Peterbrough where the turban of a Sikh youth was removed and he was hit on the head with a soda can. The third case came to light in Sudbury where an attempt was made to crush a Sikh under a pickup truck. Rupinder Singh said that some people in the car started chasing him and as he reached near his house, one of the attackers came out of the car, pulled his turban and ran towards the car – a white colored 7 Seater chest car. According to Rupinder Singh, the attackers also made a video of the entire incident. Rupinder Singh called 911 and police arrived at the scene, but no arrests have been made since the July 16 incident. A similar incident took place on July 25 in Peterbrough, Ontario, where a Sikh was attacked with a soda can. Police are treating the incident at Hunter Street East and Mark Street as a hate crime. On the other hand, an Amritdhari Sikh was attacked in Sudbury, Ontario and an attempt was made to crush him under a pickup truck. The World Sikh Organization is concerned about the continuing attacks on Sikhs and the organization says Canadian Sikhs are also being harassed online.
