Sacramento, California (Hussan Ladoa Banga) – Mir Patel, an Indian-origin clerk at a store in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA, was arrested for allegedly stealing a lottery ticket with a prize of one million dollars and trying to take the prize. This information is given in a statement issued by the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office. Patel, 23, has been charged with theft of more than $250,000, according to the office. According to investigators, the original owner of the lottery ticket, who did not want to reveal his identity, is from Antioch. He bought 2 lottery tickets from a gas station on July 13. He gave these two tickets to Patel, who worked for him as a clerk. Both these tickets got a prize. Patel gave the low-prize ticket to its owner, but scratched the other ticket, which had a $1 million prize on it. Later, he tried to claim the prize on this ticket from the Tennessee Lottery headquarters, but was busted when he became suspicious. According to officials, Patel is still in police custody and the case is still under investigation.
