Seattle: Apna Punjab Media: Abhinav Kumar, an Indian man, was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment by the Honorable Court for sexually assaulting a passenger on a flight to Seattle. In May the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Washington convicted him of indecent sexual contact after a three-day trial. Abhinav Kumar (39) was arrested at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on February 18 for pressing the chest of a sleeping minor on an Emirates flight from Dubai to Seattle.
U.S. Attorney Tessa M. Gorman said sexual assaults on airplanes are on the rise in the Western District of Washington and has a strict zero-tolerance policy for such behavior, emphasizing the severe consequences for perpetrators. The case was investigated with the help of the FBI, Port of Seattle Police, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
