Legal guarantee of MSP is the right of farmers: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: Apna Punjab Media: Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi today said that the legal guarantee of MSP is the right of the farmers and the ‘Bharat’ alliance will ensure that the farmers get their right. Gandhi today met a 12-member delegation of the United Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha at his office in the Parliament House complex. Gandhi told the farmer leaders that from the review so far it is clear that the legal guarantee of MSP can be implemented. He said that he will also raise the issue of atrocities being committed on farmers by the BJP government of Haryana in the Parliament.
Earlier today Gandhi claimed that farmer leaders invited by him were stopped from entering the parliamentary complex. When Mr Gandhi decided to meet the farmer leaders outside the Parliament, they (the leaders) were allowed to come to the Parliament.

The delegation that met Gandhi included farmer leaders from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka Jagjit Singh Dallewal, Sarwan Singh Pandher, Kurbaru Shantakumar, Abhimanyu Kohar, Surjit Phool, PR Pandian, Lakhwinder Singh Aulakh, Amarjeet Mohri. , Ramandeep Mann, Tejveer Singh, Venkateswara Rao and Gurmanjeet Mangat etc. At the same time, Congress General Secretaries KC Venugopal and Jairam Ramesh, Congress General Secretaries KC Venugopal and Jairam Ramesh, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Waring, MP Deepender Hooda, Charanjit Singh Channi, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Dr. Amar Singh, Dharamveer Gandhi, Gurjit Singh were present in the meeting. Farmer leaders told Rahul Gandhi that before the Lok Sabha elections, he had promised that if he came to power, his government would bring a law to guarantee minimum support price (MSP) for crops and provide a constitutional guarantee for loans to farmers-laborers. Exemption will set up a commission. The farmers told Gandhiji that although he had not come to power, the farmers and workers of the country had given him the role of a strong opposition in the form of the ‘India’ alliance. Therefore, they should strongly raise all the issues of farmers including the MSP Guarantee Act in the Parliament. Farmer leaders said that the BJP government has recommended giving President’s Medal to the officers who opened fire on the farmers, due to which there is a lot of anger among the farmers.
